This past weekend, the Northwest Automotive Press Association hosted the Mudfest at the Ridge Motorsports Park in Shelton, Washington. The annual competition, now in its 22nd year, brings together the latest SUVs, crossovers, and pickup trucks to determine which models are the best in their respective categories. NWAPA journalists tested a total of 28 vehicles in all types of road and weather conditions, including, you guessed it, lots of mud.

FCA US LLC brand vehicles enjoyed particular success, winning in each entered category. The 2016 Jeep Wrangler 75th Anniversary Edition crushed the competition in the Extreme Capability class, and the 2016 Ram Rebel was victorious in the Pickups category. The 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee 75th anniversary won not only in the Family Utility class, but its dominating performance also earned the overall title of "Outdoor Activity Vehicle of the Year."

"For 2016 we made both our on- and off-road courses more challenging,” said Ryan Douthit, event chair and producer of Driving Sports TV. “The Ram Rebel, Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Grand Cherokee impressed our members with their ability to not only traverse any obstacle, but to do so with a unique sense of style and comfort. That’s why our members not only picked these three as best in their classes, but also selected the Jeep Grand Cherokee 75th Anniversary Edition as our Outdoor Activity Vehicle of the Year.”
